Teachers for Chicago Families is a fundraiser led by a group of Chicago Public School teachers who provide holiday gifts and necessities to families at the schools where we work. This year, 2023, will be our 7th year helping our Southside School Communities. We use 100% of the money donated to buy toys, clothes, shoes, hats, gloves, winter coats, blankets, pillows, toiletries, uniforms, and other essentials for our families in need during the holiday season.
Every year we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our supporters. It has made an amazing impact on the families at our Southside Schools. Every penny of the donations is spent on items for the students and families — and our teacher team personally hand-delivers them. Last year we donated more items than ever before to three different low-income schools.
This year we are collaborating with FIVE schools to identify and support families in need. We have never been able to help this many people, and the needs are vast. As always, every donation goes 100% to the kiddos and families. Your generosity makes a huge difference every year — and every year we are overwhelmed with gratitude. In short - you rule and we love you for all you do.
Last year, our amazing friend Marina managed to get us a partnership with Walmart! They donated $2,600 in toiletries and tablets, which meant we were able to use more funds to help more families. As a result of that partnership, we needed to take the next step and register as AN OFFICIAL NONPROFIT! Teachers for Chicago Families Inc. has the same mission, only now we are official with the IRS and get a fancy number to give to Walmart for year-round grants. Woohoo!
